A message from Pastor Ben:
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I am sure we are all very aware of what is going on in our country with the Corona Virus/COVID-19 Wuhan Virus. For a while this is going to be a powerful force in our lives, affecting what we can and cannot do. The Emanuel St John Church Council met and voted to cancel all Church activities, including all in-person worship, until April 9. This means that First Communion and Confirmation will both be postponed. This date is not set in stone, but it gives us a roadmap while we see what develops. As the situation becomes clearer, we will make further decisions and communicate them as necessary. There is much that we do not control. I am writing to you about some things we CAN control. We are working to give you daily options for worship, for Bible study, and for encouragement. I will be posting a worship video every day on my page via Facebook Live. Feel free to share them if you think that someone else would be enriched and encouraged by them. If you do not have a Facebook account, do not worry! The worship team will be making DVD’s of the Wednesday night service and the Sunday morning service. These will be available in the Church lobby, which is open between 6am and 6pm. If you are unable to come and pick one up, we will find a way to deliver it to you. Please call me 712-541-4785 and we will get that set up. If there are no copies left, just leave a note and we will get one to you. We recently launched our Right Now Media service which gives you access to thousands of Christian videos, kid’s cartoons, Bible studies and series on particular topics. If you will provide your email address we will provide you with a link to get set up. This is a free service provided by Emanuel St John and I see the providence of God in providing this at a time when we will be more isolated from each other and in need of being built up. You can call me or email me and we will get you set up. We will also continue our ongoing study through the Lytton Bible Readers on my Facebook page which is another resource you can use. |
Now, let’s talk about finances. Without Sunday offerings this time could be a potential strain on the Church. Bills do not stop. But this need not be so. You can continue to support our congregation by sending your offering in the mail, by clicking on the “Donate” button at the top of this page, or dropping a check in the night deposit box at United Bank in Lytton.
We also recognize that there are people in our community who might well be in need, financial or otherwise. Emanuel St John will use every resource that we have available to help. If that is you, please reach out for help. Maybe you don’t feel comfortable going out to pick up a prescription or getting some groceries. There are people in the Church and the community that will help. Please check in on your neighbors, especially if they are older, in poor health, or do not have family nearby. Isolating ourselves during this time is recommended and makes sense for our bodies, but it is tough on our spirits. Reach out and bear each other up. God does his best work through the hardest times. God will be faithful. Keep your eyes out for his goodness and keep ready so that you can get in on the opportunities which will surely come. May the peace of Christ be with you.
